Tremors 2 (1996)

Trying to put the past behind him, Earl Bassett settles down in his home town of Perfection to start an ostrich farm with the little money he has left from publicity after nearly being killed by a pack of monstrous sand worms. Just when he thinks he is through with the hideous creatures, the Mexican government offers him big bucks to head south of the border with a few friends and lots of guns to go Graboid hunting in an abandoned oil field, but it will take more than a few sticks of dynamite to stop the monsters' two-legged offspring! TREMORS 2 brings all of the same great laughs and thrills back to life from the first film in an admirable direct-to-video sequel. Kevin Bacon's absence is hardly noticeable with Fred Ward and Michael Gross taking over in a pair of hilarious performances. Amalgamated Dynamics' incredible creature designs continue to impress, but what is most surprising is how well the computerized effects hold up now fifteen-years after its release. What is less surprising is that the film frequently falls back on past successes, with only a few new kicks along the way. As sequels go, TREMORS 2 is still a total blast that comes as close as it can to topping the original!

Rating: 8/10.
Entertainment: 9/10.

  1. I totally enjoyed this sequel as much as the original. Unfortunately, the series kinda went downhill from here; though the tv show had occasional moments of inventiveness.

  2. Of all of the "Tremors" films, I liked this one the best.

  3. terrific sequel, IMO almost as good as the original

  4. This is one of my all-time favorite sequels, I absolutely love it! I grew up on the sequel and never even saw the original until years later as a kid.
