Gorgeous invites Fantasy, Melody, and the rest of her friends to visit her auntie for their summer vacation, but their arrival stirs up a houseful of spirits that refuse to let them leave! HOUSE is an exploration of color, light, sound, form, editing, and every other element of filmmaking. Nobuhiko Ôbayashi paints a surreal horror fantasy that is given the look and feel of a living comic book thanks to his imaginative style and experimental design. HOUSE begins as a bubbly teen comedy as the girls run around getting into mischief throughout the mansion, but the light tone gives way to terrifying frights once the spooks set in. Gorgeous and her friends must then defend themselves as they are attacked by haunted dolls, decapitated flying heads, dancing skeletons, killer cats, and even a grand piano that lives off of the blood of little girls! And all of this is set to a groovy 70's score and electric animation that makes it feel like a lucid acid-induced nightmare. Expressive, entertaining, and purely original, HOUSE is a newly rediscovered treasure for horror fans!
